Operations: The oxygen of your company

Operations is a fundamental part of any business. Let’s look at why.

We have the lifeblood of marketing, the heart of customer success, the muscle of sales. Operations is the breath in the lungs, the oxygen keeping each function at high caliber status.

1. They oversee

They’re the ones catching what falls through the cracks, the ones connecting information and applying it for the most efficient outcome. They’re the ones keeping the company on track.

Operations manage the needs of a company, its employees, and its clientele.

2. They have a hand in all departments

Each department has issues that come up and need to be solved. Who do they turn to? Operations. Your team needs someone they can go to for assistance, and know they’ll get an answer one way or another.

3. They provide structure

With the breath that operations provide comes a structure, a system that contains and expounds what works. Capturing practices and successful approaches that directly impact other departments, therefore affecting company health.

4. They organize

They set the table, invite the guests, and come prepared with plans a, b and c for the metaphorical dinner party that is your business. They’ll be there if the main course is taking longer to cook then expected, they’ll be there if the salad is missing its serving utensils, and if someone forgot to preheat the oven for the rolls. They will be there, ready with a prepared strategy for resolution and correction.

Operations is not only oxygen; they make up the lungs. Without which your company would suffocate.

Altogether, each role makes up an important aspect. It’s those people, the ones filling the roles, who make up the bones and structure of a healthy, thriving company.

Next, we’ll look at what it takes to succeed in such a dynamic and intricate role as operations.
