Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. In this list, we’re looking at fictional ones. We’ll cover
Here are 5 of my favorites and why they have an impact on me.
1. Spider-Man/Peter Parker
Spider-Man reminds me of the importance of responsibility. We all have power in us that can change people’s lives for better or for worse, and we have a responsibility to ourselves and others to uphold and remember that fact.
Peter Parker is a beautiful reminder that there’s a hero in all of us if we choose to embrace it.
2. Iron Man/Tony Stark
Name a more iconic comeback kid–I’ll wait. Tony Starks redemption arc is one of my favorite lines of cinema I’ve ever witnessed.
I love this character because he shows how much a person can grow from their circumstances. His resourcefulness and growth is a prime example of what it means to be a leader and a hero.
3. Percy Jackson
This kid. This hilarious kid. Much like Spider-Man, Percy reminds me that just because life is hard, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it. His humor and approach to tough situations propelled me through high school in a way I’ll always be grateful for.
Making the decisions that are true to yourself is an important part of growing up, and Percy helped show me what that looked like.
4. Annabeth Chase
She showed me how valuable it is to have a plan, and that wisdom is not a curse. Annabeth reminds me that listening to your gut and being direct with your ideas is more effective then dodging around the subject.
She showed me what it looked like to be comfortable with your intelligence and skills. To lean into your strengths and fight for what you believe in.
5. Emma Swan
Her tenacity and strength helped smackdown my reservations of speaking up and standing firm in who I am, while I was first starting to grow into my true self.
Emma goes through an intense change in her story and I admire the way she stayed steady through it all while adopting new versions of reality into her world.
In summary
The fictional heroes we grow up with shape us in ways we don’t realize at the time, and the ones we hold close to our hearts is an interesting window to look through.
There at least a dozen more that could be listed here, but for the sake of length, I’ll leave it be.
Look at your favorite heroes, and remind yourself why they are your favorite. You may find something you don’t expect.
