Week 15: Back in the hustle

Waiting for the train in the morning.

We’re back in the office! I have put aside my oversized t-shirts, dusted off my tennis shoes, and survived re-joining the commuting herd.

Crossing intersections is still harrowing, but it’s getting easier. Those who have experienced rush hour in NY at an intersection with broken crosswalk indicators understand my distress.

Trains and I get along—except for when I’m hurtling down the stairs to the platform and barely making it on board in time.

Work update

Lessonbee is evolving, and I’m excited to be a part of it! I have to keep it close to the chest, but I’m working hard and learning lots.

Since we’re back in the office, I’ve had to adapt to a different workflow again. I’ve been getting creative with my new set up for meetings since the webcam cord isn’t long enough to reach the monitor.

Anything can be a tripod if you believe enough.

Personal update

I’ve been having some fun with hobbies lately. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s been grabbing my attention when I’m not working, writing, or crying:

For reading: I just finished The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, by Suzanne Collins, and I’m about to start a collection of Edgar Allan Poe poems.

For media: The Office and Bon Appetit YouTube content.

For gaming: Minecraft and Age of Empires. Both have me feeling super nostalgic! As if I needed more of that.

For art: I’ve been doing little doodles every day this month. It’s been fun to do something simple.

For music: I’ve been loving this album by Lukas Graham. You’re Not There gets me every time.

I hope you all are staying safe out there and that you’ve found some joy in the middle of everything going on.

Thank you for reading!

    Hi, Heather,

Read the last 4 blogs! Entertaining, informative and inspiring, especially the one titled Empty Cup. Keep it up. Uncle Rex told me he can’t believe your insight for a “youngster” lol. I’m doing some writing on my book again, finally. This is while getting ready to go to Sekiu for 2-4 months. We will probably leave around July 13. Teagan’s friend, Gaven is going with us. That is a good thing. Had a nice talk with your mom today. Rough weekend for her. Gotta go.

    Love, Grandma

      Hi Grandma!

I’m so glad you enjoyed them. Good to hear you’re still writing. We need to get a call in before you head to Sekiu!

      Love, Heather
